Frequently Asked Questions

1- How do I know which products are right for me?
Here is our Product Comparison Chart. We all have unique body chemistries and sometimes a little trial and error is necessary to find the right lactation product for your body’s needs. We often suggest a bestseller bundle to start, so that you can test out 3 popular products at a reduced price.

2- What’s the difference between Cash Cow and Milkapalooza?
Cash Cow contains goat’s rue and alfalfa as the main heavy-hitting ingredients while Milkapalooza contains moringa and nettle. Cash Cow can also be used in late term pregnancy. We all react differently to herbs and what works wonders for one individual may not have the same effect on another, so we have different formulas to help you find the right fit. You can read about our ingredients and their benefits here.

3- Why is this product not Gluten Free?
Goat’s rue is not gluten-free. In order to get a product certified gluten-free, it has to test out at 10ppm (parts per million) or less. Our Cash Cow has never tested below that, and we have narrowed it down to the goat’s rue that makes it miss the mark. We have tried many sources of goat’s rue and none of them are gluten-free which is interesting because a lot of companies are advertising their goat’s rue as gluten-free. We don’t believe the gluten content is high, but it still doesn’t meet our strict testing standards.

4- What are the benefits of this product?
The herbs in Cash Cow have been shown to assist with milk production, milk enrichment and nutrition, mammary gland stimulation, prolactin release, milk flow and let-downs, and can help improve insulin signaling in the body.

5- Does this product increase fat content in milk?
Although a mother’s diet doesn’t affect the total amount of fat in breastmilk, it can influence the fatty acid composition. A diet rich in DHA and other polyunsaturated fatty acids will lead to an increased amount in breastmilk. Alfalfa is a good source of PUFA and particularly Omega-3 fatty acids like alpha-linolenic acid.

6- Can I combine supplements?
We suggest trying one product at a time for at least 7-10 days to see which one works best for you.. We all have very unique body chemistries so trying them individually can help determine what works best for you. Some parents prefer to take a combination of products and that’s perfectly fine, but it does make it more difficult to determine which product is impacting your milk production the most. If you find that more than one product works well for you after testing them you can certainly combine them at that time! Some parents alternate between products throughout the day, alternate days, or combine the dosage of each daily. It may require a few tries to find the perfect combination for your body.

7- How long does it take to start working?
Some parents notice a change within a few days, but we recommend taking each product for at least 7-10 days.
How soon after birth should I start taking the product?
For parents with a history of low milk supply in a previous breastfeeding journey, beginning the supplements immediately postpartum may be appropriate. For first-time parents however, we usually suggest playing it by ear and reaching out to us if milk supply concerns develop.

8- Are these safe to take while pregnant?
Out of an abundance of caution, we don’t recommend taking any supplements while pregnant with ingredients that haven’t been part of clinical studies. For example, some of the ingredients in Cash Cow like alfalfa can be taken earlier on in pregnancy. However, moringa has only been researched for its use with late-term mothers. Moringa is considered part of the cuisine in some Asian countries so it’s a really well-tolerated lactogenic plant but out of an abundance of caution, we typically defer to the study that was done around 36 weeks of pregnancy when making recommendations for starting Cash Cow which can be taken after 36 weeks of pregnancy.

9- What dosage should I take?
Per the supplement facts, we recommend 2 pills, 3 times a day.

10- What time of day should I take the products?
3 times a day with a meal or a high-protein/healthy-fat snack. Many parents take them with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

11- When does the product expire?
Cash Cow has a 3 year expiration date from manufacturing. Please refer to the bottom of your bottle for specific expiration date.

12- I can’t swallow capsules, how can I take these?
Some individuals who are not able to swallow capsules will open them and sprinkle the contents in a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt. It’s best to not dilute them too much.

13- How long should I take the product?
It varies! Some parents use our products for a short time to jump-start their supply and some parents take them for the duration of their breastfeeding journey.

14- Can I take this along with Sunflower Lecithin?
Absolutely and many parents do!

15- Do your products contain fillers?
Never. Our products are free of additives and fillers. All you will find in the capsules are the herbs listed on the back of the bottle.

16- How should I store this product?
We recommend storing the products in a cool, dry place.
